Shares Open Up, Eyes On Alro

The Bucharest bourse opened Friday slightly in the green, while smelter Alro Slatina (ALR.RO) became the top-traded issuer early in the session after Russian Vimetco announced plans to sell a 21% stake in the company.

At around GMT0734, the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C was up 0.27% on the day, while 10-share blue-chip index BET was rising 0.12%.

BET-FI, the index tracking investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, was inching up 0.05%.

The BET Extended index, or BET-XT, which tracks the top 25 blue-chips was up 0.03%, while the energy companies tracker, BET-NG, was gaining 0.27% on the day.

Trades unfolded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange by GMT0738 amounted to 1.27 million lei (EUR308,000).

Popular stock early Friday included Alro, Fondul Proprietatea, BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO), Transelectrica (TEL.RO) and Teraplast (TRP.RO).
