SIFs' Assets Inch Up 0.5% In April, To RON7.33B

The cumulated net assets of Romania’s five regional investment funds, or SIFs, rose 0.5% in April, to 7.33 billion lei (EUR1.78 billion) from RON7.29 billion in the previous month, with SIF Transilvania (SIF3.RO) and SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO) posting the largest increases.

Since the beginning of the year, SIFs' assets rose 5%, from RON6.97 billion.

SIF Transilvania assets gained 2.2% on the month but only 1.6% since the beginning of the year, to RON1.531 billion. At the end of April, the fund had the greatest profit among the SIFs, RON53.47 million, up from RON23.7 million at the end of March.

SIF Moldova assets rose 2.1% on the month in April and were up 11% since the beginning of the year, to RON1.266 billion, while profit rose 55% on the month to RON16.19 million.

The assets of SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1.RO) were up by 1.6% from March and by 2.4% since the beginning of the year, at RON1.418 billion. At the end of April, the fund had a net profit of RON1.43 million, compared to RON302,000 at the end of the first quarter.

In April, SIF Muntenia (SIF4.RO) assets dropped 1.3% on the month but were up 5.3% since the beginning of the year, to RON1.488 billion. The fund posted a loss of RON2 milion, compared to RON4 million at the end of March.

SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO) posted a decrease in assets as well, down 1.2% on the month, but were up 4.5% since the beginning of the year, to RON1.628 billion. The fund's net profit jumped in April to RON11.22 million, from RON863,000 at the end of March.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C inched up 0.11% in April, while the BET-FI index, which tracks the SIFs and the Proprietatea fund (FP.RO) fell 4.87%.
