05.06.2011 By Ioana Tudor

The Romanian Development and Tourism Ministry on Thursday launched an open auction to award contracts to restore several county and local interest roads in southeastern and northeastern Romania in 2011-2013.

The counties targeted are Neamt, Iasi, Calarasi and Ialomita, which are included in the National Infrastructure Development Program.

The contracts are estimated at 276.3 million lei (about EUR67 million) for Neamt, RON275.5 million for Iasi, RON193.8 million for construction work in Calarasi and at RON293.6 million for Ialomita, VAT excluded.

Contract awarding criteria will consider the lowest price.

Tourism Minister Elena Udrea said in April the ministry launched an open auction to award contracts worth about RON569 million, VAT excluded, to restore over 300 kilometers of county and local interest roads in the northeastern counties of Botosani and Suceava.

The Government will run the National Infrastructure Development Program between 2011 and 2020. It is managed by the ministries of Tourism and of the Environment, according to an emergency ordinance approved in November last year. (EUR1=RON4.1065)
