Ford: New Car Sales In Romania Lower Than Normal

05.05.2011 By Ioana Tudor

New car sales in Romania have been three times lower than normal over the past three years due to the economic crisis, Ford Romania president Henrik Nenzen said Thursday.

Nenzen told a news conference all carmakers and dealers have been impacted by the economic crisis.

The Romanian new car market did not exceed 95,000 units in 2010, when it should have stood at 250,000 units.

The Ford representative estimated car sales in Romania will increase by 10% in 2011 and by 30% next year.

According to Nenzen, Ford Romania currently has 3,600 employees and will speed up employment next year.

Nenzen was present at the inauguration of a new Ford dealership in Iasi, northeastern Romania.

The new Ford center, ATI Motors Holding, has 22 employees and represents an investment of EUR3.2million.
