Romania’s Dacia Automobile 2010 Net Profit +30.4% To RON300M

Romania’s Dacia Automobile, the local unit of French carmaker Renault, Tuesday reported a 30.4% increase in its net profit to 300 million lei (EUR1=RON4.091) in 2010, fueled by higher exports.

In 2009, Dacia Automobile posted net profit of RON230 million.

Dacia posted total sales of RON11.4 billion in 2010, up 26.6% from RON9 billion a year earlier.

The carmaker said total exports rose 31.7% on the year to RON8 billion, while local deliveries slid 4% to RON1.2 billion. Car parts sales increased 28% on the year to RON1.6 billion.

Dacia sold 342,290 vehicles in 2010, up 14% on the year. Sandero was top-traded model, with over 150,000 units, followed by Duster with around 100,000 units.

The carmaker is 99.4%-owned by Renault Group.
