Austrian Ambassador To Bucharest Pleas For Gas Price Liberalization

Romania should free the energy market, since transparent pricing is the only way to draw foreign investment on this segment, Tuesday said Michael Schwarzinger, Austrian Ambassador to Bucharest.

Romania needs to develop a national energy bourse and organize international trading, since such bourses alone can form transparent prices for energy sources, the official said.

Schwarzinger added he proposed the privatization of energy market operator OPCOM, or the creation of a new energy bourse, and he agrees with US Ambassador Mark Gittenstein who said Romania needs large investment in energy to support economic growth and the development of infrastructure.
