Battle Starts Over Romania’s Resources

ExxonMobil hopes that along with Petrom, Romania’s largest company, it will join the exclusive club of prospectors of the sea depths, through their operations in the Neptun block in the Black Sea. Chevron will next year drill its first Romanian well to look for shale gas, the most fashionable fuel of the moment. It is not only their profit that depends on the success of these companies but also the energy independence of Romania, a country that risks running out of oil and gas in a maximum of 15 years, unless new deposits are found.
