Cora To Operate As Energy Trader In Romania

Romania Hipermarché, operator of Cora chain of hypermarkets, Monday said it has received authorization to act in capacity of electric energy trader on the local market.

"It is a different kind of business and we saw fit to tap it as we are a large consumer of energy. We can (now) obtain good energy prices and Romania Hipermarché will be able to sell to third parties at attractive prices as well," said Ana Maria Florea, public relations representative for Romania Hipermarché.

Romania Hipermarché will sign the first delivery deals in December, she added.

Cora Romania runs eight hypermarkets on the local market. The company, a brand of Louis Delhaize group, plans to open three more stores in 2012.
