Romania's Ministry of Economy this month will begin procedures to install private management in a quarter of the companies under its authority.

"I am convinced that the private management of some of the companies under our authority will bring even better economic results and will boost the confidence of the investors interested in Romania's upcoming projects," Economy Minister Ion Ariton said in a press release.

Lately, the ministry has run several projects evaluating the impact brought by the change in management.

A "Functional Review" evaluation, carried out by the World Bank, ended a few days ago, recommending installing private management in some of the ministry's companies.

The companies controlled by the ministry include Termoelectrica, Hidroelectrica, Electrica, Transelectrica, Nuclearelectrica, the energy complexes at Rovinari, Turceni and Craiova, Romgaz, Transgaz, Oltchim, Oil Terminal, Conpet, Petrotrans, Minvest Deva, Romarm, IAR Brasov.
