Romanian state-run power distributor Electrica will purchase 15 wind turbines with a total capacity of around 45 MW for its windfarm in eastern county of Galati, the company said in a letter of intent.

Electrica estimates will pay between EUR70 million and EUR83 million for the wind turbines and related installment and maintenance services. The figure is exclusive of value added taxes.

The company plans to build two windfarms with an installed capacity of 100 MW, pending regulatory authorizations.

Electrica runs six power supply and distributions units in Romania and has its shares in the hands of the Economy Ministry.
