Foreigners Spent EUR1B On Romanian Holidays, While Romanians Spent EUR1.4B Abroad in 2011

The money spent by the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism from 2009 through 2011 in order to develop tourism and get foreigners to come to Romania made no impact on the economy. Central bank data show foreigners spent one billion euros on holidays in Romania last year, 14% less than in 2007 and 25% less than in 2008. At the same time, Romanians spent EUR1.4 billion on holidays abroad, 25% more than in 2007.
