Ropharma Posts 15% Increase In 1Q Net Profit

Romanian pharmaceutical company Ropharma (RPH.RO) posted a 15% rise in its first-quarter net profit, fueled by a similar increase in operating income.

Ropharma registered net profit of 3.26 million lei (EUR0.73 million) in January to March, compared with RON2.84 million in the year-ago period, the company said in its quarterly financial report.

Operating revenue was RON119.4 million in the first quarter of 2015, up 15% from RON103.4 million in the same period of the previous year.

The sales revenue rose to 16% to RON118.7 million from RON102.6 million in the first three months of 2014.

According to the company’s report, revenues from retail operations increased 9% year-on-year in the first quarter to RON77.7 million, while distribution revenues were 35% higher, at RON42.6 million.

On the other hand, discounts more than quadrupled to RON1.5 million from just RON0.3 million in the first quarter of 2014.

Operating costs posted a 16% increase, to RON115.5 million in January-March 2015, from RON100 million in the same period of last year.
