Headhunters May Recruit Managers For Romanian State-Owned Firms

The World Bank has suggested that Romania use headhunters when recruiting for management positions in state-owned companies, Tuesday said Alexandru Sandulescu, director with the Economy Ministry

"The World Bank suggested an approach, a solution where we would hire headhunting firms who, based on clear professional criteria, would provide lists of people eligible for the managing boards," Sandulescu told a news conference.

He added the headhunting firms may use their own criteria when recruiting general managers, who could be specialists from within the company targeted or from the outside. In addition, after the appointment of private management, the companies will set up their own optimization schemes.

Jeffrey Franks, the head of the IMF mission to Romania, recently said 30 to 40 state-owned companies would have private management, and the government has vowed to work with an internationally known human resources company when selecting management staff.
