Interbrands Executive Goes To Farmexpert

Emilian Trasnea, 40, an executive who had worked for over eight years within Interbrands, the biggest local consumer goods distributor, was appointed CFO of drugs wholesaler Farmexpert starting with May 16.

Trasnea started to work for Interbrands, distributor of Kent cigarettes (produced by British American Tobacco, the biggest player on the local cigarettes market) back in 2002, when his first position was as chief accountant. As of 2005, he was promoted to Chief Financial Controller, a position he held until May this year.

"The decision to change the industry after eight years is motivated by the fact that I see greater prospects and a whole different set of challenges in drug wholesale than in FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) distribution.

In addition, Farmexpert is a company that has seen a spectacular performance lately, and I trust it because we have worked together before, a long time ago," said Trasnea, who was in charge of the finances of Interbrands, a distributor with EUR1 billion in annual sales.

Farmexpert, number 2 in Romania's drug wholesale market after Mediplus, last year posted EUR385 million in turnover, up 45% on the previous year.
