Adjusted Construction Works Rise 11.5% On Month In April

Romanian construction works rose 11.5% on the month in April, fueled by increased activity in all sectors, the statistics institute INS said Friday.

New constructions advanced 13% in April from a month earlier, while maintenance and capital repair works were up 5.3% and 3.3% on the month, respectively. The data are adjusted for number of working days and seasonal factors.

On an annual basis, adjusted construction works rose 18.7% in April, supported by two-digit growth in most sectors.

New constructions increased 28.5% on the year in April, while maintenance works were up 13.9%, the data showed. On the other hand, capital repair works declined 6.9% on the year in April.

In unadjusted data, Romanian construction works rose 26.9% on the month in April, and were up 22.8% compared with the same month of 2011.

In January through April, unadjusted construction works increased 9.1% on the year, while adjusted works advanced 8.2%, INS data showed.
