Sealants maker Den Braven Romania posted sales of EUR8.1 million in the first quarter of 2011, up some 25% on the year, mostly due to higher exports and a wider share on the local market, company general manager Adrian State said Monday.

The Romanian unit of Dutch group Den Braven posted sales of EUR6.5 million in the first quarter of 2010.

Local sales rose 3% on the year in the first quarter of 2011, to EUR3 million, while exports increased by 46%, to EUR4.8 million. Sales in Moldova reached some EUR350,000, up 5% on the year.

"The market share increase was possible due to our producer prices," State said in a news release.

For this year, the company plans to increase its sales by 10% on the year, using a sales strategy aimed at a increasing the local market share and further boosting exports. In 2010, the company posted sales of EUR39.5 million, up 28% from EUR30.8 million in the previous year.

Dutch group Den Braven was founded in 1974 and it is currently owned by Dutch consortium Egeria-Wagram.

The group has 11 sealant production units and 25 branches in 100 countries worldwide. The Romanian unit was launched in 1997 and it has over 250 employees.
