Austrian construction group Strabag performed works of EUR165.5 million in Romania last year, up 3% from EUR160.6 million in 2009, the company said Thursday.

The order backlog in Romania rose 73%, to EUR301 million, from EUR174 million, Strabag's financial report reads.

Employee numbers dropped 13% on the year, to 1,211, from 1,556.

On the building construction and civil engineering segment, the group performed works for EUR53 million, down 39.5% on the year, while the order backlog dropped 3% on the year, to EUR58.75 million.

Works on the transport infrastructure rose 51%, to EUR104.6 million. The order backlog on this segment jumped to EUR221 million.

The special works division had projects worth a total EUR6.7 million in Romania last year, while orders dropped 30%, to EUR21.3 million.

Strabag is present on the local market since 1991, and currently operates through several companies, including Strabag Romania, ARL Cluj, Carb Brasov and Drumco Timisoara.
