Camelia Sucu Branches Out Into Farming

05.24.2011 ZF English

Camelia Sucu, one of the wealthiest Romanian businesswomen, owner of luxury furniture retailer Class Living, wants to "reinvent" herself and start a business from scratch in agriculture.

Sucu wants to develop a greenfield project, building three cow farms in Arad and Alba counties, where she will buy or lease plots of land.

"My goal is to invest in three farms of this type, depending on the meadows I will find. For the first farm, set to be built in Arad County, a plot with an area ranging between 500 and 700 hectares is needed, for a number of 500-1,000 cows. For this, investments on paper stand at EUR3 million," Camelia Sucu told ZF.

The first farm will start by raising meat cows (and could be subsequently used for both milk and meat production) and the products will be sold both on the domestic market and abroad.
