Iulian Dascalu Signs With C&A, Now Has Contracts With Fashion's 'Big Four'

Businessman Iulian Dascalu, 41, owner of shopping center chain Iulius Mall, is the first Romanian to have brought into his malls the biggest fashion players - Inditex, H&M, New Yorker and C&A.

Dascalu has signed a contract with clothing retailer C&A, with the latter to open three stores in three of the businessman's five malls.

C&A is set to open stores in Palas Iasi, Iulius Mall Timisoara and Iulius Mall Suceava. The three stores will cover around 4,300 square meters. The biggest one will be the Timisoara store, which will cover two floors, and have a total area of 1,700 square meters. In Iasi, C&A will open an around 1,380 square-meter store on the ground floor of Palas Mall, while the Mall Suceava store will cover 1,225 square metres, and will also be located on the ground floor.

C&A is the last of the "big four" in Romanian fashion to sign a contract with Dascalu for stores in his malls. The first to come, in 2008, was Inditex, the biggest player in local fashion, with turnover of around EUR100 million, according to ZF estimates based on the company's results in the last two years.
