Last Weekend Before Christmas: Malls Are Full, But People Come, Look Around, And Leave

The atmosphere is holiday-like in Bucharest malls in the last weekend before Christmas. The shopping center aisles are crowded, and so are the parking lots, where it takes about ten minutes to find a space for your car, if you’re lucky. The atmosphere takes you back to the good times of the boom period, when pockets and bags alike were stuffed. But now bags are few and rather empty. “People come, have a look, and leave. The crowds aren’t reflected in the sales,” all sales clerks say.
