French DIY retailer Leroy Merlin will open a store in Cluj-Napoca on November 6, remodeling a former bauMax store, after buying the network in 2014.

The store will have a surface of around 9,700 square meters and 96 employees.

The unit will be the seventh Leroy Merlin store on the local market, alongside the units in Bucharest, Craiova, Ploiesti, Brasov and Bragadiru (Ilfov county).

Leroy Merlin is part of French group Adeo. Austria's bauMax announced in July 2014 it had reached an agreement with Adeo to sell its 15 Romanian stores. The rebranding process is to be completed next year.

In the first half of the year, Leroy Merlin opened another three stores, one own store in Bragadiru and two bauMax rebranded units in Bucharest and Brasov.

According to the latest data, the retailer plans to reopen another two rebranded bauMax stores, one in Cluj-Napoca and one in Sibiu, by the end of the year.
