The modern store formats trailblazers in Romania, Metro Cash&Carry and Carrefour, have branched out into new market segments in the past year in an attempt to gain market share and entered each other’s turf. Carrefour now covers all formats, the last of which cash & carry, while Metro decided to open a test retail store.
