Best Distribution: In 3 Years, Games Sales Will Shift From PC To Consoles

More than half of the video games sold in Romania are PC games, while in the Western markets the biggest weight is held by console games. In the next three years, though, the domestic games market will fall into line with the West, says Andreea Allardin, general manager of Best Distribution, leader of the domestic market of PC and console games.

"Whereas now 60% of the games sold are PC games, in the near future the situation will change. In three years' time, sales of games for consoles will dominate locally, as well," Allardin stated.

Romania's games market reached EUR18 million in 2010, and Best Distribution expects it to stay flat this year.

"We were disappointed by the first quarter. Sales dropped by 10% from the same period of last year, largely because of the lack of major titles and launches," stated Allardin, specifying she expected the market to rebound, the more so as Diablo III game is set to be launched in the last quarter of the year.
