INS: First Quarter Adjusted Industrial Output Inches Up 0.5% On Year

Romanian first quarter adjusted industrial production inched up 0.5% from the year-earlier period, on higher energy output, the statistics institute INS said Friday.

Adjusted energy production increased 8.7% on the year in the first quarter, but output in the manufacturing and mining industries was down 0.7% and 0.2% on the year, respectively.

In March alone, industrial production rose 0.7% on the month, and was up 0.5% compared with March 2011.

The data are adjusted for the number of working days and seasonal factors.

In unadjusted data, Romanian industrial production edged down 0.4% on the year in the first quarter, due to declining production in manufacturing and mining sectors.

Unadjusted industrial output increased 14.5% on the month in March, but was down 1.2% compared with the same month of 2011, the data showed.
