INS: Industrial New Orders Soar 26.4% On Year In 1Q

Romanian industrial new orders rose 26.4% in the first quarter compared with the year-earlier period, fueled by two-digit increases in most of the sectors, the country’s statistics institute INS said Thursday.

New orders in the intermediate goods sector increased 35.4% on the year in the first quarter, while orders in the durable and capital goods sectors were up 31.9% and 24.2% respectively.

First-quarter orders in the consumer goods sector rose 6.1% compared with the same period the previous year.

In March alone, Romanian industrial orders increased 10.8% from a month earlier and were up 14.5% compared with March 2010.
