Romania’s industrial producer price index inched down 0.1% in May from a month earlier, held back by a 1.1% decrease in energy prices, the country’s statistics institute INS said Tuesday.

Prices in the mining industry increased 0.5% on the month in May, while utility and manufacturing prices were up 0.4% and 0.1%, respectively.

In annual terms, industrial prices rose 6.7% in May, fueled by higher prices in all sectors.

Prices in the utilities sector increased 29.2% in May from the year-earlier month, while manufacturing and mining prices rose by 7.4% and 4% on the year, respectively. Energy prices were up 2.3% in May compared with the same month of 2011.
