INS: Romania Housing Permits Up 6.3% On Month To 3,586 In May

Romanian housing permits rose 6.3% to 3,586 units in May, from 3,372 units a month earlier, the country’s statistics institute INS said Monday.

The number of new residential building permits was 6.6% higher compared with May 2013, the data showed.

Residential constructions in rural areas made up for 62.3% of the new permits issued in May.

New permits for non-residential buildings, including administrative structures, stood at 808 units, compared with 633 units in April.

In the first five months of the year, Romanian authorities issued 13,925 housing permits, up 0.7% from the same period of 2013.
