INS: Romania Industrial Sales Rise 1.5% In May Vs April

Romanian industrial sales rose 1.5% in May compared with the previous month, after a 7.2% decline in April, data released by the statistics institute INS showed Tuesday.

Sales in the mining sector were up 0.6% on the month in May, while manufacturing sales increased 1.5%, the data showed.

By segment, sales of energy products rose 17.4%, while intermediary good sales were up 2.6% against April. Sales of capital goods went down 1.6% on the month, while sales of durable and consumer goods declined 0.2% and 0.3%, respectively.

Compared with May 2014, industrial sales fell 2%. Mining sales were down 9.8% in May against the same period of 2014, while manufacturing sales declined 1.7% on the year.

For the first five months of the year, Romanian industrial sales were up 1% against the similar period of 2014.
