INS: Romania Industrial Sales Rise 1.9% In First Half

Romanian industrial sales rose 1.9% in the first six months of the year compared with same period of 2014, supported by the manufacturing industry performance, data released by the statistics institute INS showed Friday.

Sales in the mining sector were down 0.9% on the year in January to June, but manufacturing sales increased 2%, the data showed.

By segment, sales of capital products rose 7% on the year in the first six months, durable good sales were up 5% and intermediary product sales increased 4.6%. Sales of consumer goods inched 0.5% higher on the year in the January-June period, but energy product sales dropped 21.5%.

In June alone, industrial sales went up 7.2% against the previous month.

Industrial sales were up 6.5% compared with June 2014, the data also showed.
