Romania’s industrial producer price index went up 0.2% in May, after a 0.5% decline in the previous month, the country’s statistics institute INS said Thursday.

Energy prices rose 0.6% against April, while prices of intermediary goods increased 0.2% on the month. Prices of both capital and durable goods inched 0.1% lower on the month in May, while consumer goods were flat compared with April.

Compared with May 2014, average industrial prices were down 2.4%, mostly due to lower prices of energy and capital products, the data showed.

Capital good prices went down 2.7% year-on-year in May, while energy prices fell 7.7% on the year.

On the other hand, durable goods were by 1.8% more expensive, prices of consumer goods were up 1% compared with May 2014, and intermediary good prices inched 0.1% higher, the data showed.
