Manufacturing Industry In Romania Receives Less Orders In May

Romania’s industrial sector received less orders in May compared with the previous month, after a 5.7% decline in April, data released by the country’s statistics institute INS showed Tuesday.

New orders in the Romanian manufacturing industry went down 3.7% compared with April, and they were down 0.1% against May 2014.

New orders in the capital goods sector fell 5.4% on the month in May, durable goods orders were down 7.1%. Orders in the intermediary goods sector declined 2.1% compared with April, but consumer goods orders inched 0.2% higher.

Compared with May 2014, new orders for consumer goods fell 1.6%, and demand for capital goods was down 0.9%. Orders in the durable goods sector increased 5.6% on the year in May, while intermediary good orders went up 0.9%.

In the first five months, orders in Romania’s manufacturing industry advanced 1.7% compared with the same period of 2014, helped by growing demand for durable goods and intermediary products.
