Romania Housing Permits Down 0.2% To 37,776 In 2013

Romania authorized construction of 37,776 residential buildings in 2013, very slightly fewer than in the previous year, the country’s statistics institute INS said Tuesday.

In 2012, Romania issued 37,863 housing permits.

In December alone, the number of housing permits was 2,553, down 11.2% compared with November, but up 9% from the same month of 2012.

Residential constructions in rural areas made up for 66.4% of the new permits issued in December 2013.

New permits for non-residential buildings, including administrative structures, stood at 531 units, compared with 586 units in November.
