07.07.2015 By Bogdan Neagu

Romania’s economy grew 1.5% in the first quarter against the previous three-month period, according to revised seasonally-adjusted data from the statistics institute INS released Tuesday.

Compared with the first quarter of 2014, the seasonally-adjusted gross domestic product was up 4.1%. Both figures were revised down by 0.1 percentage point from the previous GDP data release in June, following a recalculation of the seasonally-adjusted series, the statistics office said.

In unadjusted data, Romania’s GDP grew 4.3% in the first quarter against the same period of 2014, supported by strong activity in retail, industry and the information and communication sectors.

Romania’s economy is expected to grow more than 3% in 2015, fueled by private consumption and a rebound in investment.
