Romania’s Construction Works Up In June; 1H Output Rises 10.9%

Romania’s construction sector stayed on a positive trend in June, concluding the best half for the industry in recent years.

The adjusted volume of constructions works was up 13.5% in June compared with the previous month, according to data released by the statistics institute INS Wednesday.

New construction works volume rose 6% on the month in June, in data adjusted for number of working days and seasonal factors. However, capital repair works and maintenance works went down 6.5% and 6%, respectively.

On an annual basis, the adjusted construction output rose 13.5% in June. The volume of new constructions went up 16.6% year-on-year, while capital repair works increased 12.8%.

Maintenance works were up 4.7% from June 2014.

The volume of construction works went up 10.9% year-on-year in the first half, supported by growth in all sectors. In unadjusted data, the construction output was 10.3% higher than in January-June 2014.

In unadjusted data, Romanian construction works rose 21.9% on the month in June, and were 13% higher compared with the same period of 2014.
