Romania's Industrial Output Rises In January

Romanian adjusted industrial production inched up 0.3% in January compared with the previous month, on higher output in the mining and manufacturing sectors, the country’s statistics institute INS said Wednesday.

Mining production rose 1.7% on the month in January, while manufacturing output edged up 0.6%. Energy production fell 3.8% from December in data adjusted for the number of working days and seasonal factors.

In annual terms, the country's adjusted industrial output increased 3.4% in January, due to higher production in most sectors.

Production in the mining and manufacturing sectors was up 5.9% and 3.6% respectively, but energy output was 2.1% lower from January 2012.

In unadjusted data, Romanian industrial production rose 6.3% on the month in January and was up 5.7% compared with the same month of 2012.
