Romania's new Labor Code was published Thursday in the Official Journal and will enter force on April 30.

Romania's new Labor Code was published Thursday in the Official Journal and will enter force on April 30.

On March 8, the Government sought the lawmakers' confidence vote to pass the new Code. A motion of no-confidence filed by the opposition did not receive enough votes to pass.

A number of opposition MPs then challenged the new Labor Code's constitutionality. On March 23, the Constitutional Court cleared the Code and rejected their claims.

On Thursday, President Traian Basescu signed the bill amending the Labor Code into law.
