06.28.2012 By Florentina Dragu

Romanian companies estimate activity in construction and retail sectors will pick up in June to August, while manufacturing and services will post only a modest growth, the statistics institute INS said in a survey Thursday.

The polled managers said construction and retail output will increase in the June-August period compared with the previous three months. Construction prices are expected to grow modestly in the period, while retailers estimate prices in the sector will go up at a faster rate.

In the manufacturing and services sectors, both production and prices are likely to grow moderately in June trough August.

Most of the companies expect employee numbers to remain stable during the interval, except in construction, where managers plan to add new jobs, the survey showed.

INS interviewed 8,641 managers in manufacturing, constructions, retail and services sectors.
