Romanian Industrial Producer Prices Fall In April

Romania’s industrial producer price index went down 0.5% in April, after a 0.4% increase in the previous month, the country’s statistics institute INS said Tuesday.

Energy prices fell 1.5% against March, while prices of capital goods decreased 0.5% on the month. Prices of both intermediary and durable goods inched 0.1% lower on the month in April, but consumer goods were by 0.1% more expensive than in March.

Compared with April 2014, average industrial prices were down 2.8%, mostly due to lower prices of energy and capital products, the data showed.

Capital good prices went down 2.8% year-on-year in March, while energy prices fell 8.7% on the year.

Intermediary good prices inched down 0.1% against April 2014.

On the other hand, durable goods were by 1.3% more expensive, while prices of consumer goods were up 1.1% compared with April 2014, the data showed.
