Boc: New Invalidity Pension Registrations Down 53.9% On Year

The number of invalidity pensions newly registered in Romania dropped 53.9% on the year after new legislation was enacted, in July 2010, acting Labor Minister Emil Boc said Friday.

According to Boc, 56,768 new invalidity pension files were registered between July 1, 2009 and March 31, 2010, but only 26,155 new files were registered between July 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011.

Boc also said controls revealed 16,350 people were ineligible for an invalidity pension and this benefit was terminated.
