The Romanian Government is considering installing private management in state-run companies with a view to improving their activity, Prime Minister Emil Boc said Thursday.

Boc said state companies and departments are under a process of evaluation aimed to decide whether they will continue activity or will be restructured. The prime minister said that, if need be, the state might also sell its minority stakes in some companies.

Boc highlighted the evaluation of state companies will be finished by the end of July and authorities will come up with precise solutions for each of them.

Romania's Economy Ministry said early this month it will begin procedures to install private management in a quarter of the companies under its authority. Lately, the ministry has run several projects evaluating the impact brought by the change in management.
