Former Youth Minister Monica Iacob Ridzi Indicted For Abuse Of Office

Romanian anticorruption prosecutors on Tuesday indicted former Youth and Sports Minister Monica Iacob Ridzi in a corruption file where she is charged with abuse of office.

The case will be tried by the High Court of Justice. The trial is scheduled to start on September 7.

In July 2009, the Parliament approved prosecutors' request to start criminal investigations against Iacob-Ridzi for misuse of public money.

In December last year, the Chamber of Deputies rejected their request to extend criminal investigations against Ridzi, as well as their bid to extend searches into the former minister's computers.

Prosecutors finished their investigation of the former minister in April 2011.
