The Romanian Government decided Wednesday that contests for university teacher positions will be open to the public and candidates for professor positions will be evaluated by a commission that must include a foreign professor.

Moreover, at least three of the members of the evaluation commission must be professors at other universities.

Education Minister Daniel Funeriu said contests for lecturer and teaching assistant positions vacant since April 2009 will also be organized.

Universities have until May 30 to send to the Education Ministry requests to fill the respective vacant positions.
