Liberal Ministers Resign, PM To Present New Cabinet Next Week

Liberal Cabinet ministers, state secretaries and heads of government agencies have tended their resignations and social democrat Prime Minister Victor Ponta said he would present a new Cabinet in Parliament next week.

Ponta said he handed a list of interim ministers from among social democrats to President Traian Basescu and was assured it would be accepted.

He added he would go to Parliament for the approval of a new Cabinet next week.

Romania's ruling Social Liberal Union has broken up following a Liberal Party meeting Tuesday evening in which the Liberal Party resolved to recall its ministers from the Cabinet and switch to opposition.
