Romanian opposition social democrats and liberals challenged the constitutionality of both the law capping teachers' salaries in 2011 and the Social Dialog Code.

The claim submitted to the Constitutional Court is signed by 110 deputies of the Social Democratic and Liberal parties.

The Government sought a vote of confidence in Parliament on Monday to pass the two bills into legislation.

Opposition lawmakers contest several provisions of the two laws. The Court will discuss the claims on May 4.
