President Basescu Promulgates Social Dialog Code, Law Capping Teachers’ Wages

Romania’s President Traian Basescu on Friday has promulgated the Social Dialog Code and the law capping teachers’ salaries in 2011, which have been pushed through the Parliament through a vote of confidence, the Presidency said in a press release.

On April 18, the Government sought a vote of confidence in Parliament to pass the two bills into legislation.

The opposition did not submit a no-confidence motion against the Government, but challenged the laws at the Constitutional Court.

The Court ruled on Wednesday the two normative acts are constitutional.
