Romania To Set Up Coast Guard

Romania's Government on Wednesday approved the creation of the Coast Guard, which will operate in the Black Sea, on the Danube and in the Delta.

The border police departments in the counties Tulcea, Constanta, Calarasi and Giurgiu will be reorganized into the Coast Guard, Interior Ministry officials told MEDIAFAX.

In March, Interior Minister Traian Igas said around 350 officers will be laid off from the four border police departments which will merge to form the Coast Guard.
