Romanian Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

Romanian Corporal Constantin-Laurentiu Lixandru, 30, has been killed in Afghanistan Thursday by an improvised explosive device.

The Defense Ministry said the corporal, who was part of the 26th Infantry Battalion, was on a mission on the A1 motorway in Zabul when a makeshift explosive device detonated.

According to the ministry, the Romanian soldier was severely injured and was immediately rushed to the Lagman base hospital where he died.

Lixandru was married and had no children.
