Tabara: Area Of Tilled Land To Increase This Year

The area of untilled land in Romania will decrease to below one million hectares this year, as subsidies for farmers were paid on time, Agriculture Minister Valeriu Tabara said Thursday.

The minister said the good agricultural production registered last year will also encourage farmers to cultivate their land.

According to Agriculture Ministry data, about 1.4 million hectares of farmland were left unplowed last year.

According to Tabara, Romania has about 8 million hectares of tillable land.
