Why Romanian Wheat Was Eliminated From Iraq’s Purchase List

Romanian grain traders were eliminated in February and March from two tenders for wheat in Iraq worth a total of EUR20 million as a result of “faulty” deliveries made by Lebanese trader GT Group, an unknown company on the local market. The decline of wheat exports to Iraq has been noticeable since last year, when the deliveries to this market amounted to less than EUR1 million, while in 2009 exports to Iraq stood at over EUR40 million.
